Job summary

FirstLine Schools is seeking a SELF-CONTAINED SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER for the Discovery Plus Program in New Orleans. The teacher will deliver individualized instruction to students with cognitive needs, align curriculum to LA Connector standards, and collaborate with a team of specialists to support IEP goals.

We expect certification in SPED (or progress toward certification), strong classroom management, and a commitment to high expectations.

Qualifications

• Lead teaching experience with students who have cognitive needs.
• Experience working in urban, open-admissions schools.

Responsibilities

• Design individualized lessons aligned to LA Connector standards.
• Provide feedback and scaffolded questioning to advance understanding.
• Respond to student data and adjust lessons accordingly.
• Implement assistive technology and other supports.
• Establish effective routines and manage diverse learners.
• Oversee paraprofessionals and coordinate schedules.
• Maintain required IEP documentation and related forms.
