Job summary

FirstLine Schools is seeking talented paraprofessionals to support a self-contained Discovery Plus Program for students with cognitive impairments in New Orleans. Paraprofessionals will work 1:1, 2:1, or in classrooms, receiving coaching from teachers, coordinators, and specialized program managers to implement supports and devices throughout the school day.

Responsibilities include assisting in special education services, supporting instruction, and collaborating with related service providers.

Qualifications

• Experience working with students with health plans and cognitive needs preferred.
• Experience in urban, open admissions school setting.
• Commitment to at-risk students and families.
• Ability to set high expectations for students with special needs.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the delivery of special education services under supervision.
• Supports classroom instruction for the assigned student(s).
• Assists students with classroom assignments and IEP goals.
• Works to keep students on task and provide behavioral support.
• Collaborates with related service providers to implement interventions and devices.
