Job summary

FirstLine Schools in New Orleans seeks a Special Education Lead Teacher to begin January 2026. You will implement the curriculum, support students with disabilities, and collaborate with a team of teachers and school leaders to advance student achievement.

Requires 2+ years as teacher of record, a BA/BS, and Louisiana SPED certification (completed or in progress). Experience in an urban, open-admissions setting is preferred, along with strong communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of lead teaching (teacher of record).
• Experience in urban, open-admissions school is preferred.
• BA/BS degree required and SPED certification in Louisiana.
• Strong content knowledge for disability/grade levels served.

Responsibilities

• Design lessons aligned to standards mastery and end-of-year assessments.
• Provide feedback with scaffolded questions to confirm understanding.
• Establish effective routines and manage students with minimal disruptions.
• Inspire students to achieve goals through effort, not innate ability.
• Prepare scholars to solve complex problems.
• Maintain IEP documentation and related service records (logs, progress, ESY, etc).
