Job summary

Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. (SSR) is seeking an experienced Discipline Operations Manager I to lead a discipline subgroup, align staffing, and drive performance for Total Project Success.

You will partner with discipline leaders to allocate hours, mentor staff, and ensure QA/QC adherence across projects. You will collaborate with project managers on staffing, support recruiting, onboarding, and performance cycles while maintaining in-office presence across locations to foster strong cross-office

Qualifications

• Registered technical professional with 10+ years in a technical discipline.
• 5+ years in a consulting engineering firm.
• Active and up-to-date NCEES council record, if applicable.
• Experience managing small to mid-scale projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead a discipline subgroup, align staffing and schedules.
• Manage performance, provide feedback, and conduct evaluations.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure staffing and skill mix.
• Oversee QA/QC and ensure design services meet standards.
• Develop employee development plans and mentorship.
• Manage client, contractor, and manufacturer relationships.
• Review timesheets and assist budgeting and leadership input.
