Job summary

Baystate Health in Springfield, MA is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join the Discharge Unit at Baystate Medical Center. This part-time, day-shift role supports nurses and physicians, monitors patient conditions, and delivers safe, compassionate care to adult patients.

You will document vitals, perform routine procedures, assist with examinations, and support patient comfort and safety. The schedule is 20 hours per week, Tuesday through Friday, 10:00am–3:00pm, with Baystate Health

Qualifications

• Non-Graduate (Required).
• BLS - American Heart Association; CNA certification.

Responsibilities

• Patient Care & Monitoring: Provides safe, age-appropriate care; documents vital signs, intake/output, and changes in patient condition.
• Clinical Procedures & Testing: Performs approved treatments and procedures, including dressing changes, specimen collection, EKGs, Point-of-Care testing, and unit-specific functions.
• Treatment & Provider Support: Assists nurses and providers with examinations, treatments, procedures, elimination needs, and other delegated patient care activities; monitors patients.
• Communication & Teamwork: Communicates respectfully with patients, families, and the healthcare team; supports clinical and non-clinical activities.
• Patient Safety & Emergency Response: Maintains patient safety, initiates emergency procedures, and maintains required competencies.
