Job summary

Pueblo of Zuni seeks an experienced emergency management leader to coordinate and integrate all activities to mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters and emergencies. The role serves as the Tribe’s technical advisor for preparedness plans and safety initiatives.

Qualifications

• Develop, implement, and evaluate emergency and disaster preparedness.
• Coordinate and lead emergency response activities.
• Design emergency communications plans and related procedures.
• Coordinate budgets and funding applications with agencies.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership during emergencies; trains employees on preparedness.
• Designs strategy, systems, processes, guidelines, rules, and standards for emergency communications.
• Prepare operating procedures in response to emergencies or disasters.
• Develop, amend and maintain Emergency Operations and Hazard Mitigation Plans.
• Inventory resources from tribal, BIA, county, state, federal, and community programs.
• Prepare and monitor annual budget for emergency preparedness.
• Apply for and manage technical and financial assistance through state, county, federal, and tribal programs.
• Coordinate, evaluate and maintain emergency management activities.
• Plan and coordinate disaster response or crisis management operations, including evacuations and shelters.
• Maintain ongoing communication with officials and stakeholders to support unified response efforts.
• Review and update emergency plans reflecting regulatory requirements and lessons learned.
• Coordinate training programs per FEMA, NIMS, and ICS standards.
