Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Disaster Engineering Specialist to conduct site inspections, document damage, and develop scopes of work and cost estimates for FEMA Public Assistance projects. You will review engineering reports, evaluate hazard mitigation options, and determine claim eligibility.

This role involves coordinating with applicants, leading meetings through program delivery and recovery stages, and providing updates to FEMA. Domestic travel is required, and a FEMA badge may be needed.

Qualifications

• US citizenship required and ability to obtain FEMA badge.
• Knowledge of design applications and technical knowledge.
• Understanding of construction materials and organization.

Responsibilities

• Conducts site inspections to validate and record infrastructure damage.
• Develops and reviews scopes of work and cost estimates.
• Reviews and analyzes engineering reports, designs, and as-built plans.
• Makes recommendations regarding claim eligibility.
• Develops or evaluates hazard mitigation proposals and benefit-cost analyses.
• Coordinates with applicants and communicates final determinations.
• Provides analyses and updates reports and supports FEMA meetings.
• May coordinate basic site inspections for FEMAPublic Assistance.
