Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Disaster Engineering Specialist to perform site inspections, document damage, develop scopes of work and cost estimates, and review engineering reports and as-built plans.

The role supports FEMA Public Assistance program delivery, coordinates with applicants, and may conduct basic to moderately complex inspections; domestic travel is required and a valid driver's license is needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
• 5 years in-field experience or 2 years in-field with professional registration
• Domestic travel is required

Responsibilities

• Conducts site inspections to validate and record infrastructure damage, including photos, sketches, and damage descriptions; develops scopes of work and cost estimates.
• Reviews and analyzes engineering reports, designs, and as-built plans.
• Makes recommendations on claim eligibility and hazard mitigation proposals; coordinates with applicants to prioritize projects and communicates final determinations.
• Provides analyses and updates, participates in status update meetings with FEMA, and identifies need for technical specialists.
• May coordinate and complete basic to moderately complex site inspections to support FEMA Public Assistance grant delivery.
• Other duties as assigned.
