Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Disaster Engineering Specialist in the Tacoma area. You will conduct site inspections, develop scopes of work and cost estimates, and analyze engineering reports and plans.

The role requires coordinating with applicants, prioritizing projects, and communicating with FEMA during program delivery and recovery. The position involves travel, design knowledge, and construction material expertise, with a focus on accuracy, detail, and timely reporting.

Responsibilities

• Conducts site inspections to validate and record infrastructure damage, taking photographs, making sketches, and writing damage descriptions.
• Develops and reviews scopes of work and cost estimates, including code and standard requirements.
• Reviews and analyzes engineering reports, designs, and as-built plans.
• Makes recommendations regarding claim eligibility and evaluates hazard mitigation proposals.
• Works with applicants to prioritize projects, facilitates meetings, and communicates final determinations.
• Provides analyses and updates reports, participates in status update meetings with FEMA, and identifies the need for technical specialists.
• May coordinate and complete basic to moderately complex site inspections to validate and record damage for FEMAPublic Assistance.
