Job summary

Savannah College of Art and Design is seeking an Assistant Director of Disability Resources to ensure students receive accommodations and foster a supportive community. Youa0ll manage caseloads, lead training, and collaborate on accessibility initiatives across campus.

The role requires a Mastere degree and several years of experience in higher education disability services, with strong communication and organizational skills to partner with campus units and students.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling, counselor education, psychology, special education, social work, or a related field.
  • At least three years of experience providing disability services and accommodations within higher education.
  • Experience supporting neurodivergent students or students on the autism spectrum.
  • Experience developing and delivering training on disability access, accommodations, and inclusive practices for faculty and staff.
  • Familiarity utilizing electronic record management systems, maintaining confidential documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Determine academic adjustments and reasonable accommodations based on student documentation and adherence to Section 504 and ADA guidelines.
  • Host staff training and continuing education in ADA, accessibility compliance, neurodiversity, disability culture and inclusion, and more.
  • Manage an active caseload of students with accessibility needs, attend weekly case conferences, and participate in quarterly student orientations.
  • Participate in an interactive review process to determine reasonable accommodations for students' living environments; stay current on relevant legislation; lead regular meetings to streamline the housing accommodation process.
  • Provide students with appropriate community referrals based on their needs and circumstances.
  • Participate in location-wide efforts to improve access for students with mobility support needs and to increase awareness and understanding of disability services.
  • Serve as a resource for the university in adaptive computer technology and related areas.
  • Monitor and update the disability services database (Accommodate) to ensure accurate and updated information.
  • Contribute to outreach, psychoeducational program development, and presentations as assigned.
  • Inform your supervisor of personal staff development needs.
  • Participate in department performance improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the testing coordinator to oversee the communication, coordination, and implementation of approved testing accommodations.
  • Ensure efficient, organized, compliant, and inclusive testing experiences for students with disabilities.
  • Promote equitable access to the testing environment.
  • Support accommodation logistics to ensure compliance with university policies and applicable disability laws.
