Job summary

California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) seeks a Manager to serve as the subject matter expert on disability management, ADA, FEHA, FMLA, CFRA, workplace accommodations, and related employment compliance matters for Academic Employees.

Reporting to the Director of Academic Employee and Labor Relations, the Manager provides strategic oversight and leadership for complex accommodation, disability, and leave matters affecting faculty, Unit 11 students, and Academic Administrators.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field and five years of progressive HR experience in disability management, ADA accommodations, leaves, or related HR functions.
• Strong knowledge of FMLA, CFRA, FEHA, and applicable regulations with the ability to interpret collective bargaining agreements.
• Experience handling complex employee cases requiring discretion and independent judgment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as lead administrator for accommodations, disability management, and return-to-work programs for faculty and Unit 11 staff.
• Provide strategic oversight of academic employee leave programs and ensure compliance with laws, CBAs, CSU policies, and university procedures.
• Consult with Academic Affairs leadership on employee relations matters involving accommodations, leaves, performance, and workplace conduct.
• Develop training, policy guidance, reporting, and program improvements.
