Job summary

North Valley Services is seeking an Employment Specialist to develop sites and placements, conduct vocational assessments, provide short-term support, and help clients with pre-vocational skills. The role involves client coaching, resume and interview assistance, and building relationships with local employers.

The position requires HS education, strong writing and communication, and a valid CA driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School education or equivalent.
• Strong writing, organizational and communication skills.
• Marketing and presentation skills.
• Current California driver's license with DMV printout and insurability.
• Ability to pass a DOJ criminal background check.
• Ability to pass CPR and First Aid.
• Ability to be certified in Behavior.
• Ability to use computer programs, create and maintain documents using Excel and Word.
• Ability to write and manage supported employee plans.

Responsibilities

• Follows all procedures, policies, and guidelines of North Valley Services.
• Motivates and assists clients in establishing professional work ethics, social skills, and appropriate apparel for work.
• Multitasks and prioritizes to meet deadlines.
• Participates in continuous staff development and training.
• Provides timely interventions, returns calls, and reacts promptly to situations.
• Works with minimal supervision and exercises independent judgment.
• Completes progress reports and billing paperwork.
• Participates in client assessment meetings and vocational planning development.
• Demonstrates and maintains a positive and professional attitude and demeanor.
• Assists clients in identifying positions in their field of interest; helps develop resumes, cover letters, applications, and interview skills; advises on employability; helps gain relevant skills and explore options.
• Presents and maintains a positive professional demeanor.
• Participates in community events and maintains relationships with employers, professionals, and funding sources.
• Coordinates Job Club meetings.
• Establishes relationships with local employers, business organizations, and community groups to develop job leads for clients with disabilities.
• Stays knowledgeable of employment trends and local labor markets.
• Drives personal or NVS vehicles as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
