Job description

Ten year old Winston-Salem, North Carolina disability firm seeks to add a third advocate to handle growing case load.

Responsibilities

• Handle around five to ten hearings per month, with hearings by phone, OVH, and in person, historically with approximately one-third volume in each.
• Hearings are primarily at the Greensboro OHO, secondarily at the Charlotte OHO, and quarterly at a more remote location like Asheville or Eastern Carolina or a relatively close location like Danville, VA.
• Thoroughly prepare self and clients for the hearings. Desired candidate will be responsive to clients and potential clients and be compassionate and patient.
• Assist with intake acceptance, prehearing briefs, Appeal Council Briefs (including 30-day Exceptions), review paperwork filled out by paralegal support staff, and respond to ten-day letters.

Position is in person and can either be limited to a forty-hour work week or a salaried position, depending on the needs of the candidate. Position has health insurance, paid time off, disability coverage, and retirement. Successful candidates can receive relocation allowance. Pay will be based on type of position candidate desires and candidate’s experience. 90-day performance review, with yearly performance reviews.
