Job summary

State of Wisconsin Department of Children and Families, Bureau of Youth Services, seeks a Director to provide statewide leadership over youth services, child protective services, youth justice, and related programs across Wisconsin. The role oversees policy development, program delivery, and coordination with counties, tribes, and private partners.

The Director will guide strategy, ensure compliance with federal requirements, and act as executive sponsor on major division initiatives.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising the work of a team of professional staff.
• Experience developing, implementing, and/or monitoring policies and programs for families involved with the child welfare system (child protective services and/or youth justice).
• Experience managing budget and fiscal operations, such as establishing budgets, monitoring spending, procuring services, and managing contracts.
• Experience leading committees/workgroups comprising both internal and external partners with decision-making authority.

Responsibilities

• Provide statewide leadership to Wisconsin child protective services, youth justice, runaway and RHY programs and coordinate with Budget, Finance, BITS, and BSAP.
• Develop and maintain contacts with public and private providers to ensure effective delivery of YJ and Youth Services across the state.
• Advise the Department on Youth Services policy including federal and state legislation and program standards.
• Lead division projects and provide executive sponsorship from ideation through implementation.
