Job summary

Talent Edge Recruiting seeks a Director of Western Timberlands to lead timberland operations across California and Oregon, including reforestation and recovery efforts after fire events. You will oversee two states, manage log flow to the mill, and drive budget, P&L, and compliance with FSC audits.

The role requires 7+ years of leadership in timberlands, a forest management degree, and willingness to relocate to Chester, CA. Travel to Lakeview, OR is expected.

Qualifications

• Degree in forest management or natural resources.
• Western softwood experience (CA/OR/WA).
• 7+ years of leadership (10 preferred).
• Deep command of timber, land, and yield.
• Relationship builder with long-tenured teams and the mill.
• Willing to relocate to Chester, CA.

Responsibilities

• Lead two states: supervise the Chester and Oregon managers.
• Own log flow and delivery targets; partner with the mill director.
• Support procurement; Procurement Manager handles harvest planning.
• Run budget and P&L including land acquisition and valuation.
• Keep FSC audit compliance and address auditor questions.
• Lead Chester's recovery with reforestation and succession planning.
• Get into the woods: valuation, yield, and land assessments as needed.
• Tools: Teams, Excel, Word, plus two internal systems learned on the job.
