Job summary

Sierra Pacific Industries in Burney, CA seeks a qualified District Forester to manage timberlands across multiple counties. The role involves THP preparation, contract administration for field operations, and conducting surveys of botanical, wildlife, and watercourses.

You will work closely with reforestation teams and interact with regulatory agencies. The position requires a California RPF or eligibility, strong communication and technical GIS/office skills, and the ability to work both

Qualifications

• California Registered Professional Forester (RPF) license or eligibility to qualify.
• Familiarity with California Forest Practice Rules and THP preparation.
• Understanding of logging, road construction, and reforestation operations.
• Excellent communication skills; self-motivated and strong work ethic.
• Proficient computer skills including Word, Excel, and GIS software.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Timber Harvest Plans (THPs) including research, field work, mapping, and writing.
• Administer contracts for field operations (logging, roads, services).
• Conduct botanical, wildlife, archaeological, road, and watercourse surveys.
• Collaborate on reforestation activities including planting and site prep.
• Interact with state regulatory agencies and diverse groups.
• Perform forestry project work in varied weather and terrain.
• Hike in remote mountainous regions using maps, compass, GPS.
• Work in a team or independently in remote areas.
• Assist and collaborate on other district forestry tasks as needed.
