Job summary

Swiss Re is seeking a senior leader for Director, Underwriting Portfolio Management. You will own the portfolio plan, advise on capital allocation and steer actions to improve risk-adjusted performance.

You will work hands-on with Palantir and analytics platforms to derive insights and translate them into implemented management actions. You will synthesize complex data into clear recommendations for underwriting, finance, risk and capital management and lead a team within the Portfolio Strategy

Qualifications

• Proven experience analysing and managing complex underwriting portfolios and translating evidence into explicit portfolio choices and measurable performance improvements.
• Deep expertise in capital-allocation processes, capacity-setting frameworks, and analysis of risk, return and diversification.
• Ability to interrogate large datasets, test hypotheses and produce decision-ready insights using Palantir or similar platforms.
• Strong understanding of underwriting economics, market dynamics and portfolio management within reinsurance or commercial insurance.
• Proven ability to present analytical conclusions clearly and influence senior stakeholders across underwriting, finance, risk and capital management.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver the underwriting portfolio plan and capital allocation strategy.
• Assess portfolio economics, risk, return, diversification and capital consumption to produce capacity, allocation and steering recommendations.
• Work with Palantir and other platforms to test hypotheses and interpret performance data.
• Identify material risks, concentrations and opportunities and drive management action.
• Translate analysis into steering actions and support governance decisions.
• Collaborate with portfolio engineering and analytics to improve tools and workflows.
• Communicate recommendations to underwriting, finance, risk and senior leadership.
