The Chronicle of Higher Education, Inc. is seeking a Director of Transfer Student Success in Columbus, OH. This leadership role directs transfer-focused programs, guides advising strategies, and steers partnerships across the college to improve transfer outcomes.

The incumbent will supervise the Transfer Center team, manage events, and collaborate with leadership to advance student success for transfer students and the Weiler Scholars program.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree required in counseling, higher education administration, social work, or related field.
  • Five (5) years of progressive experience in academic advising, transfer-related or academic support, with leadership experience preferably in a community college setting.
  • State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).
  • An appropriate combination of education, training, coursework, and experience may qualify a candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the transfer student success strategy and programs including BuckeyeBridge and Weiler Scholars Program.
  • Oversees Transfer Center operations and centralized online resource hub for transfer planning.
  • Coordinates on-campus and virtual transfer-focused events and outreach to Weiler Scholars.
  • Communicates and markets transfer pathways across the institution and partner offices.
  • Monitors initiatives and adjusts based on data trends and institutional needs.

The Director of Transfer Student Success provides vision,leadership, and strategic direction for the college’s studentsuccess efforts for transfer students. The Director oversees theTransfer Center as the primary resource hub for students, faculty,and staff engaged in the transfer process, and directs and supportsthe Weiler Scholars Program. This role is responsible for thedevelopment and coordination of student success programpartnerships, advising strategies, and programming that advancesuccessful transfer outcomes. The Director supervises the TransferStudent Success team that provides direct support to students andfacilitates key initiatives and resources that connect students tobaccalaureate degree opportunities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Strategic Leadership & Direction
  • Leads the implementation and continuous improvement of theCollege’s transfer student success strategy, including BuckeyeBridge and Weiler Scholars Program support, in alignment withinstitutional goals for student success and degreecompletion.
  • Serves as the institutional expert on transfer outcomes andpathways; collects, analyzes, and reports data to inform planningand assess the impact of transfer initiatives.
  • Develops and maintains systems for ongoing evaluation ofarticulation agreements, transfer advising practices, and studentsuccess metrics across the college and within the Weiler Scholarsprogram.
  • Shapes and evolves a student-centered advising and coachingmodel for transfer-intending students, ensuring equitable supportacross programs.
  • In collaboration with College leadership, develops long-rangeplans to increase the visibility, clarity, and success of transferopportunities for students.
Operational Leadership
  • Leads and manages the Transfer Student Success team thatspecializes in student advising, resource development, and programimplementation related to transfer as well as the Weiler Scholars,specifically. Leads the operations of the Transfer Center.
  • Oversees the creation and maintenance of a centralized,web-based resource hub for transfer planning and pathwayinformation.
  • Coordinates the planning and execution of on-campus and virtualtransfer-focused events, such as transfer fairs, universityinformation sessions, and transfer-focused orientations. Thisincludes outreach and programming for the Weiler Scholarsstudents.
  • Ensures effective communication and marketing of transferpathways across the institution, including advising offices,academic departments, and student communications channels.
  • Monitors and supports the implementation of transfer-focusedinitiatives and services, adjusting based on student feedback, datatrends, and evolving institutional needs.,
Partnerships & Collaboration
  • Cultivates and sustains strong partnerships with four-yearinstitutions. Serves as a liaison to university partners,facilitating strategic collaboration on joint programming, andstudent support services.
  • Collaborates with academic affairs and deans to align transferstudent support with associate degree programs and generaleducation curricula.
  • Tracks changes in transfer partner policies, program offerings,and credit transferability to ensure up-to-date guidance andinformation for students and staff.
  • Leads joint planning efforts with university partners forsustained campus presence and visibility, including office hours,co-hosted events, and cross-institutional outreach.
Student Support
  • Meets with students individually and in group settings toadvise and guide students through multiple phases of the transferprocess. Consults with Weiler Scholars pursuing their associate andtransfer for bachelor’s degree.
  • Participates in all-hands-on-deck periods during the semesterwhich will involve training and performance of front-facing studentroles such as course registration support, first semester courserecommendation support, new student onboarding support, graduationand student success milestone support.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master’s degree in counseling, higher education administration,social work, or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of progressive experience in academicadvising,transfer-related or academic support, with demonstratedexperience leading advising and/or transfer related initiatives orsupport preferably in a community college setting.
  • State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable abilityto gain access to work site(s).
