Job summary

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is seeking an analytical, strategic Director of Compensation and Benefits to oversee the design, implementation, and administration of total rewards programs.

Reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources, this role is critical in ensuring the Chamber offers a competitive, comprehensive, and equitable compensation and benefits package that attracts, motivates, and retains top talent.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR, business, finance or related field; master’s preferred.
• 8–10 years of progressive compensation and benefits experience.
• CCP/CEBS or SHRM-CP/ SCP certifications strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state compensation/benefits laws (FLSA, ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA).
• Proven track record of managing complex benefits renewals and compensation cycles.

Responsibilities

• Design, direct, and administer all compensation programs including base salary structures and bonus plans.
• Manage benefits programs (health, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k), FSAs).
• Conduct market pricing, job evaluations, and equity analyses for competitiveness.
• Serve as liaison with brokers, carriers, and third-party admins for renewals and issues.
• Oversee annual open enrollment and compensation review processes with training sessions.
• Participate in external surveys; analyze trends to benchmark total rewards.
• Ensure compliance with government regulations (FLSA, ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, FMLA, ADA) and audits.
