Job description

The Morey Corporation is a leading electronics manufacturing and IoT technology company that helps some of the world’s most recognizable brands connect machines, vehicles, and equipment to the cloud. For more than 90 years, we’ve built a reputation for engineering excellence, manufacturing quality, and solving complex problems.

Today, Morey designs and manufactures advanced electronic controls, telematics devices, IoT platforms, and connected solutions for customers across industries including heavy equipment, transportation, industrial, and off-highway markets. Our work helps customers monitor equipment, improve performance, reduce downtime, and make smarter business decisions through connected technology.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead, coach, and develop an initial team of four Test Engineers and 5 Test Technicians; set priorities, assign resources, establish clear expectations, provide technical guidance, and build bench strength through hiring and development.
  • Own the manufacturing test strategy and roadmap for new and existing products,

including test architecture, platform standardization, automation, data strategy

obsolescence planning, and scalability.

  • Work as part of a cross-functional team to ensure timely design, development, validation, deployment, and production release of manufacturing test solutions for new product introduction (NPI)
  • Provide technical leadership for test hardware and software using C#, C/CVI, NI TestStand, LabVIEW, test instrumentation, fixtures, databases, and interfaces to units under test.
  • Hold design standards, documentation requirements, peer-review practices, configuration control, source control, and change-management disciplines for test solutions.
  • Partner with Program Management and functional leaders to define project scope, resource plans, schedules, risks, deliverables, and launch-readiness criteria; communicate status and elevate constraints early.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Production, and Operations to integrate test systems into production processes and support safe, repeatable, operator-friendly execution.
  • Own test-system capacity, availability, reliability, and lifecycle planning; prioritize downtime response, preventive maintenance, spare strategy, duplication needs, and business-continuity risks.
  • Use test data and production feedback to improve first-pass yield, test coverage, cycle time, false-failure rates, repeatability, and overall manufacturing performance.
  • Lead or support root-cause investigations involving yield loss, intermittent failures, customer returns, and field issues; ensure corrective actions and additional test coverage are implemented and sustained.
  • Develop the annual test-engineering operating and capital plan; build business cases, manage budgets, and make sound build-versus-buy and technology-investment decisions.
  • Build productive relationships with customers, suppliers, contract partners, and internal stakeholders; translate product requirements into manufacturable and auditable test requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable safety, quality-system, customer, regulatory, and cybersecurity requirements related to production test systems and test data.
  • Create and report meaningful performance indicators for the test function, including project delivery, NPI readiness, test uptime, yield, cycle time, coverage, escapes, and improvement impact.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, urgency, disciplined problem solving, collaboration, and continuous improvement consistent with The Morey Way.
Leadership and Decision-Making Scope
  • Sets functional priorities and allocates Test Engineering resources across customer programs, production support, and improvement work.
  • Approves technical approaches and production release readiness for test solutions; establishes when risks require additional investment or escalation.
  • Develops engineers through regular coaching, performance feedback, technical review, succession planning, and targeted skill development.
  • Represents Test Engineering in operating reviews, NPI reviews, customer discussions, quality investigations, and strategic planning.
  • Influences product and process design to improve testability, manufacturability, serviceability, and cost.
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field; an advanced degree is a plus.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing test engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related discipline, preferably in electronics or applicable industries.
  • Min 1+ year of people-leadership or technical-leadership experience, including responsibility for prioritization, coaching, project execution, and cross-functional influence.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering production test systems from requirements and quotation through design, validation, deployment, and sustained support.
  • Strong working knowledge of C#, Python, NI TestStand, and LabVIEW, with the ability to evaluate architecture and guide troubleshooting even when not writing code.
  • Experience with production-test instrumentation, fixtures, hardware/software integration, database-driven test systems, and interpretation of MySQL schemas and queries.
  • Proven ability to lead multiple concurrent projects, manage capital and operating priorities, communicate risk, and deliver results in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong written, verbal, and executive-level communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with customers, suppliers, operators, engineers, and senior leaders.
‘Nice to Have’ Experience
  • Experience with vehicle communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, and J1939.
  • Experience developing production tests for RF-enabled devices, including cellular, GPS/GNSS, Bluetooth, and Wi‑Fi.
  • Working knowledge of MSA, Six Sigma, SPC, root‑cause analysis, lean manufacturing, and structured continuous‑improvement methods.
  • Experience in a regulated or customer‑audited manufacturing environment and with electronics manufacturing quality systems.
  • Experience standardizing test platforms, managing legacy‑system obsolescence, and using test data to guide operational and business decisions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace.

This is a full‑time, exempt position based on‑site in Woodridge, Illinois. The role regularly works in engineering, office, laboratory, and electronics manufacturing and must be able to respond to production and launch priorities.
