Job summary

Jobtailor in the United States (Arizona) is seeking an executive-level Cloud Engineering leader to define the strategic vision for AWS Cloud services, including EKS, and to drive a high-availability enterprise-grade cloud platform. You will spearhead cross-functional collaboration across security, SRE, FinOps, product, and architecture teams to deliver scalable cloud solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 15+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience
  • 8+ years driving large AWS engineering teams at scale
  • Experience building and managing large fleets of EKS clusters
  • Experience leading teams responsible for highly reliable, resilient, and enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure
  • Deep understanding of cloud technologies such as AWS and Google Cloud
  • Experience with cloud orchestration and automation tools
  • Experience with DevOps practices and methodologies, including CI/CD pipelines, configuration management, and infrastructure as code
  • Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Splunk, ELK, and Dynatrace
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence decision-making at all organizational levels
  • Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States; visa sponsorship not pursued
  • AWS Cloud Professional Architect, Kubernetes certified professional, or other relevant certifications are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Define and lead the strategic vision, design, and implementation of AWS Cloud services and platforms, including EKS and AWS compute, storage, and serverless services
  • Lead the AWS platform engineering team to enhance the Amex EKS Platform and enable AWS native services with a focus on customer experience
  • Collaborate with engineering, cloud security, network engineering, cloud operations, FinOps, Cloud Product, security, architecture, SRE, and application teams
  • Define and implement cloud best practices
  • Optimize AWS spend across compute, storage, networking, and managed services
  • Define and implement standardized patterns for Gen AI, AI/ML, and AI Ops use cases across the public cloud
  • Continuously evaluate and optimize cloud infrastructure for reliability, efficiency, cost reduction, and security
  • Partner with the product team to develop and implement AWS OKRs and key results
  • Produce and present recurring executive-level reports and insights for senior leadership decisions
  • Foster collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement

Job description
