Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a senior Platform Engineer to lead Platform Engineering & Operations with hands-on contributions. You will mentor engineers, shape infrastructure strategy, and drive cloud architecture across development, staging, and production environments.

You will own CI/CD pipelines, IaC/GitOps adoption, and container orchestration, while securing identity, secrets, and KMS strategies. Partner with security/compliance and advance observability.

Qualifications

BS in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience.
Minimum 4+ years building enterprise-grade software/platforms.
2+ years platform engineering across cloud models.
Hands-on Kubernetes, containers, and cloud-native apps.
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
Proficient in at least two programming languages.

Responsibilities

Serve as a senior technical leader and hands-on contributor for Platform Engineering & Operations.
Mentor cloud and platform engineers.
Shape the technical strategy and roadmap for infrastructure and platform engineering.
Drive cloud architecture and account strategy across development, staging, and production environments.
Drive adoption of infrastructure-as-code and GitOps practices.
Own container orchestration across multiple deployable services and cloud accounts.
Manage CDN/edge/WAF capabilities for content delivery, DDoS protection, edge security, and traffic optimization.
Own identity management, account-level security posture, secrets management, and KMS key strategy.
Partner with security and compliance teams on audits and vendor/security assessments.
Own and evolve CI/CD pipelines through production deployments.
Drive developer experience and internal tooling.
Contribute to on-call, incident-response, and postmortem practices.
Evaluate and adopt AI-assisted engineering tools across infrastructure, CI/CD, and internal tooling.
Lead AI-driven observability and operations practices.
Own infrastructure strategy for ML/AI product features, including model serving, inference monitoring, and compute scaling.
Champion self-service internal developer platforms and golden paths

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
4+ years of experience engineering highly available, enterprise-grade software and platform applications
2+ years of hands-on experience in platform engineering across various cloud computing models
2+ years of hands-on experience with Kubernetes, container orchestration, Docker, and cloud-native applications
Substantial hands-on experience with public cloud platform services such as AWS, Azure, and GCP
Hands-on coding experience in at least two programming languages (Java, JavaScript, Python, Go, or .NET/C#)
Experience with cloud-native application patterns, microservices architectures, and application migrations to any cloud platform
Working understanding of infrastructure, virtualization, containers, networking, storage, and monitoring and logging/analytics tools
Experience with application performance management tools such as Splunk, AppDynamics, New Relic, or Dynatrace
Experience with CI/CD tools and processes such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and Ansible
Experience with developer tools and open-source technologies
Working familiarity with MLOps/LLMOps concepts and infrastructure needs of AI/ML workloads
Hands-on use of AI coding assistants and developer tools such as Claude Code and GitHub Copilot
Familiarity with policy-as-code and software supply chain security practices
Ability to perform the stated physical requirements, including frequent sitting and occasional lifting of 20 lbs or less
