Job summary

BNY Mellon is seeking a Director of FinOps to build and lead the Technology FinOps capability, spanning strategy, execution, and governance across a multi-cloud environment. The role reports to the Engineering Hub Lead and CFO, embedding cost-conscious decision-making and establishing a scalable operating model.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in technology finance and cloud-related cost management, with a proven ability to influence across engineering, finance, procurement and executives.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in technology finance, cloud engineering, infrastructure operations, or related discipline.
• At least 3 years leading a FinOps or technology cost management function.
• Experience designing cost allocation models, tagging taxonomies, and chargeback/showback frameworks.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and executive presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead BNY's Technology FinOps capability across the technology estate.
• Define and operate FinOps lifecycle: visibility, allocation, optimization, governance.
• Develop cost taxonomy, allocation rules, and metadata tagging for showback and chargeback.
• Partner with Finance and Procurement to drive contract renewals and optimization.
• Embed responsible AI governance in agentic workflows and cost management.
