Job summary

Blue Cross Blue Shield Global Solutions SM seeks a Director of Technology Architecture & Engineering to lead system and software architecture across multiple platforms, drive secure development practices, and align technology with business strategy. You will guide high‑performing teams, evaluate new technologies, and collaborate with stakeholders to modernize and enhance performance.

You will champion AI/ML opportunities, oversee portfolio modernization, and ensure delivery of high‑quality

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems or equivalent.
• Experience leading architecture across software and enterprise systems.
• Proven track record in heavily regulated industries (insurance/finance) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide architecture direction across system and software platforms, including services, apps and databases.
• Oversee secure software development and release processes with strong testing and reviews.
• Lead tech leadership and collaboration across engineering, architecture and QA teams.

Here’s how you’ll help us build what’s next and shape how we serve our members:

Architecture & Technology Leadership

• Set direction and provide hands‑on leadership across system and software architecture, including services, applications and databases.
• Ensure high‑quality technical documentation and project artifacts.
• Lead the evaluation, selection and implementation of new technologies, systems and solutions.
• Promote innovation and continuous improvement by identifying and leveraging emerging technologies (e.g., AI, machine learning).
• Oversee secure software development and release management processes, including code reviews, comprehensive testing and resource allocation across multiple product platforms.
• Evaluate and continuously monitor the application portfolio to identify opportunities for improvement, modernization and transformation.

Application & Platform Management

• Provide ongoing management of business applications including BizTalk, SQL and Oracle databases, Salesforce, web services/API management, .NET solutions, and EDI/FTP integrations.
• Ensure timely issue resolution to minimize disruption to business operations.

People Leadership & Engagement

• Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with stakeholders, business leaders, and key technology partners to support enterprise priorities.
• Foster a culture of teamwork, proactive communication and shared accountability across engineering, architecture and QA teams.
• Lead a team of high performers by setting clear goals, providing coaching and feedback, and supporting employee development through regular evaluations and growth opportunities.

• You’ve put your degree in Computer Sciences or Computer Information Systems to good use and have proven experience with web services, API management, SQL, Oracle databases and BizTalk.
• With 10+ years in insurance, finance, or comparable fields, you bring proven expertise in navigating and leading within heavily regulated industries.
• With 5+ years of leadership experience, you champion great technology—and the people who power it.
• You thrive in a hybrid work environment and live within a commutable distance of our King of Prussia office.
• Bonus points: You have experience in the international private medical insurance (IPMI) or travel insurance industry.
