Work Schedule

Ally designates roles as (1) fully on-site, (2) hybrid, or (3) fully remote. Hybrid roles are generally expected to be in the office a certain number of days per week as indicated by your manager. Your hiring manager will discuss this role's specific work requirements with you during the hiring process. The Opportunity

This role is based in our Charlotte, NC office on a hybrid schedule in office a few days a week with some days. Reporting to the Senior Director of Talent Acquisition, this role serves as a strategic talent advisor responsible for leading recruiting strategy, delivery, and outcomes for Ally's Bank and Enterprise Functions businesses. This leader will manage a team of Talent Acquisition managers and recruiters and help ensure the organization has the talent needed to achieve current priorities and future business objectives. The Director will partner closely with senior business leaders, HR Business Partners, and Talent Acquisition stakeholders to develop and execute recruiting strategies that attract, assess, and select top talent across a diverse portfolio of functions. Success in this role requires strong business partnership, operational discipline, data-driven decision making, and a commitment to delivering exceptional candidate and hiring manager experiences. As a member of the Talent Acquisition Leadership Team, this individual will help shape recruiting priorities, leverage market intelligence and workforce insights, and identify opportunities to improve recruiting effectiveness, capacity, governance, and organizational capability. This role is ideal for a leader who is passionate about developing high-performing recruiting teams, influencing senior leaders, and building scalable talent strategies that support Ally's long-term success.

The Work Itself

Lead and develop a team of Talent Acquisition managers and recruiters supporting more than 1,000 internal and external hires annually across Ally's Bank and Enterprise Functions businesses. Build and execute talent acquisition strategies aligned with business priorities, workforce plans, and future organizational capability needs. Serve as a strategic talent advisor to senior leaders, HR partners, and key stakeholders on talent market trends, hiring strategies, and critical talent needs. Oversee recruiting delivery, performance, and service quality across assigned client groups, ensuring strong candidate and hiring manager experiences. Lead select confidential executive searches within assigned business areas and provide strategic guidance and coaching to recruiters supporting senior-level hiring. Use recruiting analytics, workforce data, and market intelligence to identify trends, influence decisions, and improve hiring outcomes. Drive operational excellence through clear governance, capacity planning, compliance, and process discipline. Champion continuous improvement across Talent Acquisition processes, tools, programs, and team capabilities to support scalable and effective recruiting.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 7+ years of Talent Acquisition experience, including at least 5 years leading recruiting teams.
  • Experience leading Talent Acquisition within a bank, financial services organization, fintech, or other complex, highly regulated environment preferred.
  • 3+ years of hands-on executive recruiting or executive search experience preferred, including experience leading confidential senior-leadership searches through the full recruiting lifecycle and coaching recruiters on executive search strategy, talent mapping, candidate assessment, and offer execution.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, develop, and engage high-performing recruiting teams, including teams operating across multiple locations.
  • Strong business acumen, executive presence, and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and influence senior leaders, hiring managers, and HR partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business and workforce needs into effective talent acquisition strategies while managing competing priorities in a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience leveraging recruiting data, market insights, and talent analytics to inform strategy, identify trends, and influence business decisions.
  • Experience leading process improvement, change, and technology-enabled initiatives that enhance recruiting effectiveness, candidate experience, and operational efficiency.
  • SPHR recommended.
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 9+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High school Diploma or GED equivalent.

Base Pay Range

$125,000.00 - $190,000.00

An individual's position in the range is determined by the specific role, the scope and responsibilities of the role, work experience, education, certification(s), training, and additional qualifications. We review internal pay, the competitive market, and business environment prior to extending an offer.

Incentive Compensation

This position is eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan.
