About the Unit
The Surgery unit at Jackson Purchase Medical Center is a 5‑bed unit that ensures patients receive optimal medical attention and support.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
- Direct and evaluate departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
- Plan and monitor staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
- Prepare, monitor, and evaluate departmental budgets, and ensure that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding.
- Coordinate and direct internal/external audits.
- Create and foster an environment that encourages professional growth.
- Integrate evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Serve both internal co‑workers and external customers, clients, patients, contractors, and vendors.
- Manage the work of others, including planning, assigning, scheduling, and reviewing work, ensuring quality standards.
- Responsible for hiring, terminating, training, developing, reviewing performance and administering corrective action for staff.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred. Applicable work experience may be used in lieu of education.
Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire
Licenses
- Registered Nurse licensed to work in the State of Kentucky
