Job description

At Aebi Schmidt , we pride ourselves on innovation, collaboration, and dedication to excellence. As part of the Aebi Schmidt Group, we are committed to delivering superior solutions to our customers as well as providing rewarding career opportunities.

Director, Supply Chain Management - Vehicle Solutions

Embedded within Corporate Procurement and reporting directly to the VP of Group Supply Chain Management, the Director of Supply Chain Management serves as the strategic bridge between corporate leadership and the Vehicle Solutions division. Functioning primarily as a supporting and control body with hands-on execution for high-impact and group-wide projects, this role partners directly with Business Unit General Managers, BU Supply Chain Leaders, and manufacturing plant operations. You will oversee divisional governance, drive targeted sourcing execution, and build capabilities across matrix teams to achieve annual cost savings while mitigating critical material shortages.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Governance & Cost Savings Execution
  • Serve as a functional control and support mechanism for the division, overseeing procurement performance while leading direct execution on high-impact sourcing initiatives and strategic group projects.
  • Design and champion divisional and group procurement strategies across both direct (materials, key assemblies) and indirect categories (logistics, MRO, services) to deliver aggressive net cost savings targets.
  • Lead high-stakes supplier negotiations, total cost of ownership (TCO) assessments, and complex contract execution for major divisional programs.
  • Drive financial accountability by using the existing savings tracking system to verify bottom-line impact and align procurement results directly with division P&L and EBITDA goals.
Material Shortage Management & Supply Resilience
  • Function as the executive escalation lead and advisory resource for critical material shortages, component allocations, and supplier delivery risks within assembly facilities.
  • Direct cross-functional task forces alongside Engineering, Quality, and Operations to execute rapid qualification of surrogate components and alternate supply lines for major risk areas.
  • Establish proactive risk-mitigation frameworks and control measures to insulate production facilities from supply chain disruptions.
Matrix Enablement, Training & Stakeholder Alignment
  • Function as the principal Corporate Procurement partner to BU General Managers and BU Supply Chain Leaders, aligning group procurement controls with business unit operational goals.
  • Develop and deliver targeted training programs for matrix procurement and plant teams on corporate supply chain governance, strategic sourcing methodologies, and risk mitigation protocols.
  • Collaborate with Engineering early in the product lifecycle to champion design-to-cost, component standardization, and dual-sourcing capabilities across group projects.
  • Exercise influence and governance across a multi-layered matrix structure without direct line authority over plant-level teams, fostering talent development and driving process consistency across divisions.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline (MBA or Master's preferred).
  • Experience: 10+ years of progressive leadership in procurement or supply chain management, managing both direct and indirect spend in automotive, commercial vehicles, or industrial manufacturing.
  • Functional Balance & Capability Building: Proven track record in a strategic control, enablement, and training capacity, paired with hands-on execution of high-impact group projects.
  • Matrix Expertise: Demonstrated capability to navigate, train, and deliver results within a matrixed enterprise structure (Corporate Procurement + BU Leadership + Plant Operations).
  • Crisis Leadership: Proven capacity to manage high-urgency component shortages and supply risks under demanding production schedules.
  • Commercial & Financial Acumen: Advanced expertise in vendor negotiations, contract execution, cost modeling, and financial impact tracking
