Black Hills State University invites applications for the position of Director of Student Support Services. This leadership position is responsible for the overall administration of the federally funded TRIO Student Support Services program in accordance with federal regulations, the approved grant proposal, and University policies and procedures.

The Director provides strategic and operational leadership for the program, ensuring that its goals and objectives are effectively developed, implemented, evaluated, and documented. The position selects, trains, and supervises program staff and student employees; develops and manages the annual federal grant budget; maintains accurate participant records; and prepares grant proposals, continuation applications, Annual Performance Reports, budget reports, and other required institutional and federal reports. THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

• Will be a student-centered and collaborative leader who demonstrates strong grant-management, budgeting, supervision, communication, and organizational abilities.
• This individual will be committed to supporting student persistence and achievement while maintaining full compliance with federal grant requirements and University expectations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

• Coordinating, supervising, and evaluating program services and activities.
• Determining student eligibility for participation in Student Support Services.
• Advising a small caseload of students on course registration, FAFSA completion, study skills, academic planning, and related needs.
• Providing or coordinating academic, financial, career, social, and personal support based on participant needs.
• Advocating for students and ensuring equitable access and appropriate accommodations for students with disabilities and members of underrepresented populations.
• Maintaining effective systems for documenting services, evaluating program performance, and measuring progress toward grant objectives.
• Conducting follow-up with participants after they exit the program.
• Developing strong working relationships with university administrators, faculty, and staff; vocational rehabilitation and disability services counselors; community resource providers; other postsecondary institutions; professional organizations; and government officials.
• Serving as the primary liaison between program participants and campus or community partners.
• Collaborating with University personnel to connect students with appropriate academic and skill-development resources.
• Promoting Student Support Services to eligible students and increasing the program’s visibility both within and beyond the University.
• Representing the program at University and community events, including events that support diversity and multicultural education.
• Participating in administrative staff meetings and University planning initiatives.
• Preparing institutional reports as directed by the Vice President for Enrollment Management.
• Performing other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Enrollment Management or designee.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Master’s degree
• 1 to 3 years of supervisory experience as well as progressively responsible experience in higher education, student affairs, or a related field

PREFERRED QUALIFICATONS

• Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, business, or a related field.
• 5-7 years of progressively responsible supervisory experience.
• Previous grant writing and management experience.

SALARY RANGE

• $62,000 – $70,000 depending on experience and qualifications.

• This position is 100% grant funded. Continued employment is contingent upon grant funding.
