Job summary

Our client, a Fortune 500 retailer, seeks a Director of Strategic Sourcing (Store Operations) to lead sourcing strategy across 2,100+ locations with growth to 2,200+. You will drive end-to-end RFx processes, manage supplier relationships, and deliver measurable savings while partnering with executives and cross-functional teams in a hybrid office environment.

The role requires a decade of strategic sourcing experience, a BA/BS in a relevant field (advanced degree a plus), and exceptional

Qualifications

• Education: BA/BS in Business, Economics, Accounting, or Engineering (Advanced degree is a plus).
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of strategic sourcing and procurement; multi-category sourcing experience.
• Industry Experience: Management consulting background preferred; experience in retail is a plus.
• Strategic & Influencing Skills: Strategic thinking capability with a proven ability to influence multiple levels of the organization.
• Communication: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, particularly when presenting to peer and executive audiences.
• Analytical Mindset: Strong quantitative skills and a data-driven approach to problem-solving.
• Detail Orientation: High attention to detail with the drive to deliver quality output with minimal supervision.
• Relationship Building: Proven ability to listen, understand, and communicate effectively with associates across all organizational tiers.
• Execution & Focus: Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, work independently, and maintain high focus in a dynamic environment.
• Travel: Occasional domestic and international travel required with advance notice provided.

Responsibilities

• Drive mid-to-long-term sourcing strategies and category roadmaps.
• Lead end-to-end RFx processes (RFQ, RFP, RFI) and evaluate responses.
• Perform savings analyses and present actionable recommendations.
• Oversee post-bid onboarding, spend analysis, and vendor management.
• Partner with executives to expand the Strategic Sourcing practice.
• Manage projects and create roadmaps with savings tracking.
• Deliver executive-facing presentations and manage the Direct Imports program with overseas suppliers.
