Job summary

The Department of Social Services (DSS) invites applications for the role of Director of Management Design – Executive Director of Special Initiatives. This role reports to the Chief Special Services Officer and guides policy, program operations, and agency-wide projects across HRA and DHS.

You will supervise initiatives, analyze program data, and ensure timely delivery. The position emphasizes collaboration with public health partners and strong leadership across divisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and four years of full-time responsible experience in project management, management systems and development or related field, with at least one year in a supervisory capacity.
• Alternative: education and/or experience equivalent to the above; one year of specialized experience required; graduate studies may substitute on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Chief Special Services Officer to oversee assigned program areas and agency projects; review contracts and policies.
• Advise on agency policy, program and client issues; propose remedial actions and streamline processes.
• Provide oversight of lead testing and remediation in congregate housing facilities and coordinate with DHS, DOHMH, and HPD for resident health and safety.
• Develop multi-year plans and improvement strategies; prepare reports and recommend actions to meet objectives.
• Support Deputy Commissioners of Special Services in long-term strategy and policy development; resolve project-level issues.
