Job summary

Evolent is seeking a Director of Strategic Initiatives to own the end-to-end delivery of an AI-native platform. You will lead cross-functional teams across architecture, engineering, product, data science, and operations to deliver scalable platform capabilities.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Evolent is building a new AI platform from the ground up, and this role owns the end-to-end program delivery. As Director, Strategic Initiatives , you will lead the strategy and execution of the AI-native platform components that every AI capability across the company will be built on. The successful candidate will possess deep expertise in large-scale technology program leadership, platform modernization and application migration, and cross-functional delivery, with a demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity, align diverse technical and business stakeholders, and drive sustainable delivery outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Platform Program Leadership & Delivery

• Lead end-to-end program delivery of the AI-native platform – managing program governance, risks, dependencies, and execution across multiple parallel workstreams.

• Lead cross-functional alignment across architecture, engineering, product, data science, and business teams to manage dependencies, accelerate decision-making, and ensure platform capabilities deliver scalable operational outcomes, measurable business value, and sustainable adoption.

• Establish and monitor KPIs and value realization metrics, including delivery milestones, platform performance, quality, adoption, financial impact, and stakeholder satisfaction; provide executive reporting on progress, risks, decisions, and outcomes.

• Lead, coach and guide project managers, fostering a culture of high performance, innovation, collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.

Platform Migration & Adoption

• Lead migration of AI agents and applications onto the new platform, including planning, testing, validation, and cutover.
• Facilitate platform onboarding standards, architecture patterns, and development requirements to ensure future AI capabilities are built natively on the platform.
• Drive architecture and design decisions that accelerate adoption while minimizing technical debt.

Technical Governance, Risk, and Responsible AI

• Embed responsible AI, security, privacy, compliance, and clinical safety requirements into platform delivery.
• Ensure adherence to contractual, regulatory, and organizational requirements.
• Identify and mitigate delivery, operational, technical, and compliance risks.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
• 7-10+ years of program management experience leading complex, cross-functional technology programs, including the development and implementation of net-new platform capabilities.
• Demonstrated experience leading architecture, engineering, product, data science, and business stakeholders to deliver platform modernization initiatives and application migrations.
• Demonstrated success leading highly complex cross-functional initiatives and aligning business, operational, and technology stakeholders toward shared outcomes.
• Demonstrated ability to influence senior executives and drive alignment across competing stakeholder groups.

• Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.

• Experience developing and monitoring KPIs and value realization metrics to track delivery performance, adoption, risks, trends, and business outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Masters’s degree in Business, Technology, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
• Program management certification (PMP, PgMP, Agile, SAFe, or equivalent).
• Experience delivering event-driven architectures, document or data processing pipelines, cloud-native platforms, or AI/ML and intelligent workflow solutions.
• Working knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards and prior authorization workflows.
• Healthcare, payer, provider, utilization management, or regulated industry experience preferred.

The expected base salary/wage range for this position is $130,000-140,000. As part of our total compensation package, Evolent is proud to offer comprehensive benefits (including health insurance benefits) to qualifying employees. All compensation determinations are based on the skills and experience required for the position and commensurate with experience of selected individuals, which may vary above and below the stated amounts.
