Job description

About Corgi

Corgi is building the next generation of financial institutions. We’re rethinking how insurance, financial products, and other complex financial services are built and operated from the ground up.

Corgi is a licensed insurance carrier with several property and casualty (P&C) lines of business, and we are expanding into additional lines. We’re building modern insurance products and operating systems from the ground up, combining deep insurance expertise with technology to make insurance work better.

We move quickly, work across disciplines, and expect people to take meaningful ownership from day one. Our teams are small, ambitious, and highly execution-oriented.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced insurance professional to help build and shape a portfolio of specialty commercial insurance products, including management and professional liability (E&O, D&O, EPLI, Fiduciary Liability) and Product Liability.

This is a product-building role for someone who understands how these lines actually work in the market. You will bring underwriting judgment, product knowledge, distribution experience, and a practical understanding of what makes a book profitable.

You will help determine what Corgi writes, how we price and structure it, how we manage accumulation and concentration, and how we build the underwriting infrastructure to support the business at scale.

This role is well suited to someone with a strong foundation at a carrier, specialty insurer, or InsurTech who wants to broaden their scope across underwriting, distribution, and product.

What You’ll Work On
  • Own underwriting strategy across E&O, D&O, EPLI, Fiduciary Liability, Product Liability, and related specialty lines.
  • Develop underwriting guidelines, appetite, authority structures, referral criteria, and risk-selection frameworks.
  • Evaluate complex commercial risks and make underwriting decisions on individual accounts.
  • Develop pricing and terms in partnership with actuarial and analytics teams.
  • Help design products, coverage structures, endorsements, and policy forms.
  • Build portfolio‑level views of profitability, concentration, exposure, and performance.
  • Work closely with distribution and sales teams to understand market demand and build products that customers actually want to buy.
  • Establish underwriting processes that can eventually be automated and scaled through Corgi's technology platform.
  • Monitor loss experience and portfolio performance and adjust underwriting strategy as the book develops.
  • Help recruit and develop the underwriting organization as the business grows.
  • Represent Corgi with brokers, distribution partners, reinsurers, and other industry stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For
  • 4–7+ years of experience in commercial or specialty insurance.
  • Deep expertise in one or more of E&O, D&O, EPLI, Fiduciary Liability, or Product Liability.
  • Strong underwriting judgment and a demonstrated understanding of risk selection and portfolio economics.
  • Experience working with brokers and sophisticated commercial insureds.
  • Ability to understand both individual-account risk and portfolio-level dynamics.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work across underwriting, actuarial, product, technology, and sales.
Especially Valuable
  • Experience across multiple professional or specialty liability products.
  • Experience across public, private, and nonprofit D&O, and with both primary and excess placements.
  • Established broker or distribution relationships.
  • Experience building a new product or book of business.
  • Experience in both underwriting and a sales/distribution-oriented role.
  • Experience at a leading management, professional, or products liability writer such as Chubb, AIG, Travelers, Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance, Tokio Marine HCC (including Philadelphia Insurance), CNA, Beazley, Markel, The Hartford, AXA XL, Zurich, Liberty Mutual, or Allianz.
