Job summary

BlueWave is seeking a Director of Preconstruction & Procurement to lead the planning, estimating, scheduling, and contracting for solar and battery storage projects. This hands-on, cross-functional role reports to the VP of Preconstruction and collaborates with Development, Engineering, Finance, Legal, and external partners.

The role demands strong commercial judgment, technical knowledge, and effective communication to ensure projects are fully scoped, priced, contracted, and supplied for

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Supply Chain, Business, or related field.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in preconstruction, estimating, contracting, sourcing, procurement, or related field.
• Experience with solar PV and battery energy storage projects or renewable energy.
• Ability to conduct constructability reviews, develop cost estimates, and plan construction sequencing.
• Experience managing competitive bid processes (RFIs/RFPs/RFQs) and contract negotiations.
• Strong understanding of EPC/subcontractor management and long-lead equipment planning.
• Proficiency with MS Office; Salesforce and Procore experience a plus.
• Experience supporting finance or term financing for renewable energy projects.

Responsibilities

• Own and execute integrated preconstruction and procurement strategies for solar and storage projects.
• Conduct constructability reviews and cost/schedule assessments for execution readiness.
• Build project cost estimates using historical data, quotes, and market intelligence.
• Develop and maintain critical path schedules with cross-functional teams.
• Create and manage bid packages, RFIs, RFPs, RFQs; evaluate responses and document recommendations.
• Lead negotiations on supply agreements and project schedules with stakeholders.
• Manage buyout, long-lead equipment, supplier selection, and contracting.
• Develop data-driven sourcing strategies to reduce total cost of ownership.
• Identify procurement and supply chain risks and support handoff to Project Execution.
• Maintain data in Salesforce/Procore and other PM systems.
