Job summary

Pearce Services is seeking a Solar – Chief Professional Engineer to lead commercial, industrial, and utility-scale solar PV/ESS design efforts. You will work with civil, structural, and electrical teams, overseeing interconnections, diagrams, and construction sets while mentoring junior staff.

Ideal candidates will hold an active PE license (Florida/California minimum) and 5–10 years of solar design experience, with strong AutoCAD and NEC knowledge to navigate fast-paced projects across multiple

Qualifications

• Minimum 5–10 years as a Professional Engineer designing solar arrays.
• Experience with distributed generation and utility-scale solar PV projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and reading electrical drawings/technical specs.
• Understanding of NEC and building codes.
• Active PE License (Florida and California minimum) and ability to obtain licensure in all 50 states.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and seal commercial, industrial, and utility-scale solar PV/ESS designs including interconnection, single-line diagrams, bid sets, construction sets, and as-built drawings.
• Collaborate with Business Development and Field Services to understand customer needs and design optimal solutions.
• Create, implement and maintain quality control processes.
• Attend customer meetings and presentations during the sales cycle as needed.
• Assign personnel to project phases and elements, coordinating with utilities, permitting agencies, contractors, and clients.
• Attend pre-construction and progress meetings and develop meeting minutes.
• Perform site assessments using on-site data and remote tools.
• Contribute to or write technical papers for publication.
• Perform site-specific production analysis of PV arrays using models such as PVSYST.
• Integrate energy storage systems into solar PV designs.
• Mentor and train junior engineering staff.
