Job summary

Apple Maps seeks a visionary Director of Software Engineering for Quality, Insights and Delivery to elevate maps experiences across Apple platforms. You will lead a large, distributed team including engineering managers and QA engineers, shaping quality gates and automated testing across iOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS.

In this role you will collaborate with Product Design, Core Software Engineering and Hardware teams to drive telemetry, performance metrics, and scalable testing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
• 12+ years of professional software engineering and quality assurance experience.
• 6+ years of engineering leadership as a Director managing managers.
• Proven track record driving quality and performance for consumer products at scale.
• Strong foundation in latency, memory, CPU/GPU profiling, concurrency, and energy efficiency.
• Experience delivering automated testing and quality gates in CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Organizational Leadership: lead and scale multi-tier engineering teams including managers and senior leads.
• Technical Strategy & Architecture: define architecture, testing methodologies, CI/CD, and performance metrics.
• Product Sense & Consumer Focus: prioritize user experience, responsiveness, energy efficiency, latency and reliability.
• Cross-Functional Influence: collaborate with executives, product, design, and release management to set quality gates.
• Data-Driven Culture: build telemetry and analytics to identify regressions and guide optimizations.
• Instrumentation: design systems handling large daily transactions.
