The Opportunity

This position is based out of our Alameda, CA office in the Lingo Division. Working on Lingo, you will help build a next-generation technology that enables individuals to make decisions about how to improve energy, lose weight, or enhance athletic performance. Role Responsibilities

The Director, Software Development establishes policies and procedures to produce high-quality digital software products. They direct and oversee the software engineering function in developing, releasing, and maintaining software applications for Lingo. They create strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develop budgets, policies, and procedures to support the functional requirements. They possess deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and a solid understanding of the overall departmental function. They drive a culture of developing high-quality software for consumers.

What You’ll Work On
  • Launching high-performance, high-scale consumer-facing mobile and web applications.
  • Managing teams of software developers and technical leads at multiple seniority levels.
  • Owning software resource strategy and planning, including strategic relationships with external partners.
  • Providing effective employee performance management through goals, constructive feedback, and coaching.
  • Collaborating with product owners, architects, and business units to translate business needs into high-quality implementations.
  • Working with project managers, product owners, and technical leads to influence scope and priorities.
  • Having strong hands-on technical knowledge of mobile and cloud technologies.
  • Authoring and updating internal and external policies and procedures.
  • Managing vendors effectively to maximize value.
  • Maintaining an understanding of the business's long-term goals and ensuring designs align with these strategies.
  • Serving as a mentor and coach to technical staff.
  • Inspiring and motivating development teams to deliver innovative solutions with a sense of urgency.
  • Promoting knowledge sharing across teams.
  • Ensuring on-time, high-quality delivery of products throughout the application lifecycle.
  • Fostering a culture of design excellence, quality, collaboration, and responsiveness.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 10 years managing large-scale digital software teams.
  • At least 2 years of experience in people management.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong people management skills with success in recruiting and motivating engineering teams.
  • Deep understanding of mobile and cloud development methodologies and design patterns.
  • Proficiency with SDLC methodologies like Agile and Test-driven development.
  • Experience in the Medical Devices industry systems.
  • Ability to work independently and supervise a diverse staff.
  • Experience with Agile software development.
  • Strong technical skills in mobile and cloud technologies and ability to manage large systems teams.

The base pay for this position is $169,300.00 – $338,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
