Job summary

Austin Community College is seeking a Director for Sign Language Interpreting & Communication Access to provide strategic leadership for interpreter and communication access services across ACC programs and events.

The role oversees staff, budgets, partnerships, and compliance with FERPA/ADA, while coordinating services like ASL interpreting, CART, and VRI to ensure accessible education for Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and related communities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
• National interpreter certification (RID) or CDI credential.
• Five years of related experience, including one year of supervisory experience.
• Master's degree preferred; seven+ years in disability/accessibility in higher education.
• Experience managing interpreters, budgets, and service quality.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for Interpreter and Communication Access Services.
• Supervise interpreters, captioners, and related staff and contractors.
• Coordinate sign language interpreting, CART, captioning, VRI, and other services for ACC students and staff.
• Manage program budgets, contracts, and procurement; monitor expenditures.
• Oversee data systems for service requests, scheduling, and outcomes.
• Ensure FERPA, ADA, and related compliance and continuous improvement.
