Job summary

Children’s Rescue Fund in New York, NY is seeking a Director, Social Services (Apollo) to oversee shelter sites and lead housing strategies in alignment with DHS/OTDA guidelines.

You will supervise staff, coordinate housing services, and foster partnerships with realtors and providers to help families achieve housing stability. The role requires strong leadership, crisis management, and effective communication in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field required.
• At least three (3) years of organizational and supervisory experience in social services, housing or emergency shelter.
• Experience with single and/or multi-problem families desirable.
• Ability to think and act calmly in emergency situations.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize assignments.
• Excellent written and oral communication, organizational, supervisory, and leadership skills.
• Must have initiative, the ability to work under pressure, and be flexible to work independently or as part of a team.
• Experience in shelter settings and with high-risk families including histories of mental health, substance abuse, domestic violence, child abuse/neglect.
• Knowledge of CARES and DHS/OTDA policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Oversee housing team with motivational, strength-based supervision to meet quarterly targets.
• Identify and collaborate with realtors and property managers to locate and retain housing for families.
• Facilitate case conferences and develop individualized housing and service plans.
• Promote linkage with other service providers to secure resources for housing stability.
• Provide supervision to Social Service Supervisors, Case Managers and Housing Specialists.
• Review housing packages for accuracy before DHS review/approval.
• Document in CARES per DHS/OTDA requirements.
• Monitor staff and client compliance with CRF, DHS, OTDA policies.
• Conduct internal file reviews and implement Quality Assurance measures.
