Job Description

The Director of SEC Reporting will lead the development of external financial reporting, accounting, audit committee materials, and other project responsibilities for The Allstate Corporation, a Fortune 100 SEC registrant. This team manages financial reporting for The Allstate Corporation and its subsidiaries, including SEC filings and audited US GAAP financial statements.

In this dynamic role, you will serve as a change champion, improving processes and business practices, leading and coaching a team of high-performing accounting and reporting professionals. You will thrive on change and continuous improvement, demonstrating urgency, collaboration, and accountability.

  1. Prepare SEC filings, including MD&A, financial statements, and footnotes, collaborating with various departments to complete disclosures.
  2. Develop presentations for communicating reporting results to senior leadership and the audit committee.
  3. Manage processes supporting SEC filings certifications and auditor representations, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  4. Lead project teams in developing disclosures for new accounting developments and transactions.
  5. Collaborate across business units to develop disclosures explaining business results to external stakeholders.
  6. Work on securities offerings and capital market transactions.
  7. Monitor and evaluate the control environment for compliance with SEC Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and NAIC SOX.
  8. Implement best-in-class reporting technologies to support reporting processes.
  9. Support auditors during GAAP statutory audits and reviews.
  10. Respond to regulator inquiries and SEC comments on filings.
  11. Hire, train, and develop a strong accounting staff and foster an integrated accounting organization.
Functional Skills
  • Deep knowledge of SEC Reporting, GAAP, statutory accounting principles (preferred), internal controls, and financial reporting.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, capable of leading high-performing teams.
  • Ability to foster collaboration, provide exceptional customer service, and support innovation.
  • Effective communication skills promoting teamwork and shared knowledge.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This role requires demonstrated leadership capabilities to unify large teams and operate effectively.

Education and Experience
  • CPA certification (required).
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • 5-10 years of public accounting experience, preferably with Big 4 firms serving insurance or financial services clients.
  • Experience in insurance industry accounting and reporting (preferred).

Compensation

The annual salary range is $158,000 to $212,750, based on experience and qualifications.
