Job summary

DeKalb County School District seeks an experienced Director of Design, Construction, and Commissioning to lead capital improvement projects from development through turnover. You will supervise architects, engineers, and contractors while coordinating with the Program Management Consultant and district stakeholders.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 9+ years of experience, with licensing in the GAPSC process within three months of hire.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a closely related field is required.
• Candidate must obtain the GAPSC Support Personnel License within three (3) months of hire.
• Demonstrated experience with E-SPLOST programming and planning/analysis of K-12 schools to determine priorities for capital improvements preferred.

Responsibilities

• Directs and oversees the design, construction, commissioning, and closeout of District capital improvement projects to ensure scope, quality, schedule, and budgets are met.
• Organizes and manages procurement, contracting, and performance of architects, engineers, and contractors throughout all project phases.
• Coordinates with administrators, parents, community organizations, municipalities, and stakeholders for project development.
• Oversees design management and ensures designs meet educational, operational, and facility requirements.
• Directs construction management and quality assurance to monitor performance, workmanship, and compliance with plans and standards.
• Manages permits with county agencies and coordinates procurement of goods and services.
• Oversees project commissioning, closeout, warranty coordination, and turnover to District operations.
• Reviews contracts and change orders for compliance with district processes.
