Responsibilities

• Manages the development and implementation of scalable distributed systems and components across multiple teams.
• Oversees code and/or system optimization efforts for large-scale data processing and high-throughput requirements.
• Guides teams to define scalability requirements for owned components.
• Manages data plane platforms for large-scale data retrieval, storage, and processing.
• Ensures teams design for performance testing and load testing.
• Guides fault-tolerant design with redundancy, replication and failover.
• Prioritizes consistency, availability, or partition tolerance for service disruptions.
• Leads optimization for network unreliability including load-shedding and rate-limiting.
• Directs design of durable components with clear SLOs for availability and durability.
• Oversees KPIs, telemetry, dashboards and alerting to monitor system health.
• Directs correctness requirements and fault-injection test scenarios.
• Directs data replication and synchronization strategies.
• Guides proactive incident management and on-call readiness.
• Oversees encryption/access controls and security remediation plans.
• Ensures compliance documentation for cloud infrastructure.
• Oversees automation scripts and IaC for cloud infrastructure, and guides change-management plans.
• Manages planning and execution across medium- to large-scale projects with timelines and budgets.
