Job summary

AdventHealth in Greenwood Village, CO seeks a skilled Risk Management leader to oversee daily RM operations, oversee RMIS and loss control, and drive regional risk reduction initiatives. You will report on claims and safety programs, support governance with leadership, and manage PSO-related responsibilities.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and 2+ years in management plus risk management and patient safety experience. RN and CPHRM preferred, full-time day shift with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 2+ years in managerial/leadership role required.
  • 2+ years in Risk Management, Quality and Patient Safety required.
  • RN license and CPHRM preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Risk Management Operations daily functions including RMIS oversight and loss control.
  • Develop regional Risk Management Plan and identify high risk areas for reduction.
  • Regularly report claims, lawsuits and risk reduction initiatives to leadership.
  • Provide a 5-year Claims Analysis annually to leadership and Board.
  • Provide risk analysis on strategic initiatives across multiple domains.
  • Perform as PSO Liaison for the region and manage PSES components.
  • Ensure PSQIA protections and prevent unauthorized disclosure of PSWP.
  • Set short- and long-range objectives for RM department and evaluate program.
  • Maintain relationships with Hospital leadership, Legal, Compliance to reduce risk.
  • Provide data for actuarial reports, insurance filings, and related tasks.

Job Description:
  • Oversee the Risk Management Operations department daily functions to include local oversight of the Risk Management Information System, loss control initiatives, serious safety event management and assisting with claim management related activities as requested by AdventHealth Corporate Services Risk Management.
  • Development of the Risk Management Plan for the region and identify high risk areas for risk reduction strategies to reduce the costs associated with claims and litigation.
  • Regular reporting of claims, lawsuits and risk reduction initiatives to the Hospital and Medical Group leadership.
  • A 5-Year Claims Analysis shall be provided annually to the leadership and Board of Directors.
  • Provide risk analysis on strategic initiatives in the region in the clinical, operational & strategic, credentialing, human capital, financial, legal & regulatory, technology and reputation domains.
  • Perform the duties of the PSO Liaison for the region, managing the Patient Safety Evaluation System (PSES) and components within.
  • Ensure PSQIA protections are applied where appropriate and prevent unauthorized disclosure of Patient Safety Work Product (PSWP).
  • Development of short- and long-range objectives for the Risk Management department and provide an annual evaluation of the program.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with hospital and Medical Group leadership, Legal, Compliance to support regional initiatives and reduce organizational risks.
  • Provide required data for the annual actuarial report, excess insurance application and Division of Insurance filings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of insurance, workers’ compensation, HPL, GL claims management, and state/federal hospital-related reporting requirements. [Required]

Education:

Bachelor's [Required]

Field of Study:

Healthcare related field

Work Experience:

2+ years of experience in managerial / leadership role [Required]

2+ years of Risk Management, Quality and Patient Safety experience [Required]

  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of the stated degree requirement:
  • Bachelor's and 2+ years of Risk Management, Quality and Patient Safety experience [Required] OR
  • Associate's and 4+ years of Risk Management, Quality and Patient Safety experience [Required] OR
  • High School Grad and 6+ years of Risk Management, Quality and Patient Safety experience [Required]
Licenses and Certifications:
  • Registered Nurse (RN) [Preferred]
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) [Preferred]
