Job summary

San Benito Health Care District seeks a Senior Director to provide strategic and operational leadership for Patient Access and Patient Accounting, overseeing revenue cycle activities from registration through final account resolution and ensuring compliant, efficient processes.

Reporting to executive leadership, this role drives KPI performance, staff development, system optimization (Meditech/Expanse), and collaboration across Finance, clinical and HIM to maximize reimbursement and patient

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of progressive leadership in hospital revenue cycle operations.
• Experience with patient access, registration, eligibility, billing, AR, and denials.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for Patient Access and Patient Accounting, including registration/admissions, scheduling, verification, financial clearance, billing, AR, payer follow-up, denial management, cash posting, and collections.
• Lead and develop department leaders and staff, manage performance, productivity, and succession planning.
• Set goals, policies, procedures, internal controls, and performance expectations aligned with revenue cycle objectives.
• Develop and monitor KPIs like registration accuracy, denials, days in AR, and patient experience.
• Analyze revenue cycle data to identify errors, bottlenecks, payer issues, and leakage; implement corrective actions.
• Ensure timely billing, follow-up, payment posting, account resolution, write-offs, and financial reporting in line with policies.
• Oversee front-end controls for demographic and insurance capture, financial clearance, and patient responsibility collection.
• Collaborate with Finance, clinical leadership, HIM, IS, and others to improve revenue cycle performance.
• Provide leadership for revenue cycle systems, testing, implementation, and end-user training (Meditech/Expanse).
• Develop training, quality audits, and continuous improvement processes across departments.
• Oversee budgets, staffing, vendor relationships, contracts, and operational needs.
• Ensure HIPAA and payer requirements compliance across regulations.
• Resolve escalated concerns and promote patient-centered service.
• Present reports to executive leadership on performance, risks, trends, and resource needs.
