Job summary

Enbridge Inc. is seeking a Director of Renewable Energy Origination to lead development and execution of commercial strategies across North America.

You will secure power off-take agreements, build strategic customer relationships, and identify new opportunities for the Power and Renewables portfolio. You will oversee a team, negotiate PPAs and REC transactions, and collaborate with Corporate Development and Risk to advance opportunities while ensuring compliance with policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • 15+ years of progressive business experience, including 10+ years in energy and 5 years in renewable energy transactions.
  • Experience across PJM, MISO, ERCOT, WECC, AESO, or Ontario.
  • Proven ability to negotiate and manage PPAs and other revenue-generating agreements.
  • Strong ESG understanding and stakeholder management.
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.

Responsibilities

About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Director, Renewable Energy Origination to lead the development and execution of commercial strategies that support our growing Power and Renewables portfolio. Reporting to the Head of Origination, this role will focus on securing power off-take agreements, building strategic customer relationships, and identifying new business opportunities across North America. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping Enbridge's renewable energy growth strategy while collaborating closely with internal stakeholders to deliver value-driven outcomes.

What You Will Do
  • Own and lead the business unit's renewable energy origination strategy, directing a team of origination professionals to identify, develop, and secure commercial opportunities that support Enbridge's strategic and financial objectives.
  • Identify, qualify, and develop new business opportunities with wholesale energy buyers, utilities, municipalities, cooperatives, load-serving entities, and corporate renewable energy buyers (IOUs, Munis/Coops, PUDs, LSEs, and corporate buyers).
  • Build, strengthen, and maintain strategic relationships with key industry stakeholders, utility executives, and commercial decision-makers in target markets.
  • Develop and execute multi-regional origination strategies that align with Enbridge's decarbonization objectives and renewable energy growth plans.
  • Lead the negotiation, structuring, and execution of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) transactions, capacity agreements, and other commercial contracts.
  • Provide market intelligence and industry insights to support business development, acquisition, and project development strategies.
  • Partner with Corporate Development, Project Development, Risk, Credit, Legal, and other internal teams to advance commercial opportunities and ensure compliance with risk management policies.
  • Represent Enbridge at industry conferences, customer meetings, and networking events while preparing and delivering business cases and transaction approval presentations to senior leadership.
Who You Are
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive business experience, including at least 10 years within the energy industry and 5 years leading renewable energy, power, REC, or capacity transactions.
  • Demonstrated expertise in renewable energy markets, energy marketing, deregulated power markets, and regulatory frameworks across one or more regions including PJM, MISO, ERCOT, WECC, AESO, or Ontario.
  • Proven success negotiating, structuring, and managing complex energy commercial agreements, including PPAs and other revenue-generating transactions.
  • Strong understanding of ESG principles and the role renewable energy solutions play in helping customers achieve sustainability goals.
  • Exceptional relationship-building, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with a track record of developing customer partnerships that drive commercial growth.
  • Highly analytical with strong quantitative capabilities, including proficiency in Excel-based financial modeling and the ability to transform innovative concepts into executed transactions.
Working Conditions

Primarily office-based with regular interaction across multiple internal business functions and leadership teams.

Frequent customer engagement and relationship management activities across North America.

Regular travel throughout Canada and the United States, approximately 50% of the time.

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to: Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
