Job summary

ACCIONA Energía in Chicago seeks a Director of Business Development to lead growth of our utility-scale renewable portfolio across the United States and Canada. You will identify wind, solar PV, and BESS opportunities and advance them through greenfield development, partnerships, joint ventures, and acquisitions.

This hybrid role requires leading cross-functional teams, guiding investment evaluations, and building community relationships to support growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Economics, Renewable Energy or related field.
• 10+ years in renewable energy development through key milestones such as site origination, land acquisition, permitting, and stakeholder engagement.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and evaluating acquisitions, joint ventures, or co-development agreements.
• Strong understanding of U.S. power markets, project economics, and interconnection processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead identification, evaluation, and development of utility-scale wind, solar PV, and BESS opportunities across targeted U.S. markets.
• Build and maintain a project pipeline through greenfield development, acquisitions, joint ventures, and partnerships.
• Monitor market trends and regulatory developments to identify growth opportunities and inform strategies.
• Evaluate investments by assessing project economics, risks, and returns; prepare memoranda for executives and investment committee review.
• Lead development and project management teams through milestones such as site origination, permitting, and interconnection; monitor budgets and risks.
• Collaborate with Finance, Power Marketing, Engineering & Construction, and Interconnection teams to validate assumptions and recommendations.
• Lead community engagement and stakeholder relations with landowners, officials, and regulators.
• Represent ACCIONA Energía at industry forums and development engagements.
