Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a Director of Regulatory Affairs Advanced Technology Enablement to shape and own the AI roadmap within Regulatory Affairs. You will lead high-impact AI initiatives, collaborate across Communications, Change Management, Training, and enterprise AI teams, and ensure effective adoption of AI across global RA processes.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree (MS/PhD, PharmD, or similar) in life sciences, engineering, data science, or related discipline.
• 8+ years of experience in pharmaceutical regulatory affairs, digital transformation, or AI strategy roles.
• Experience developing, leading, and executing strategic technology or AI roadmaps in regulated environments.
• Deep knowledge of regulatory processes, requirements, and platforms in pharma or biotech.
• Proven ability to champion and accelerate change with strong stakeholder engagement.
• Expertise with artificial intelligence, machine learning, and automation technologies as applied within compliant, global organizations.
• Outstanding communication skills, translating AI topics for business and technical stakeholders.
• Continual learning mindset; vigilantly tracking external AI developments and health authority expectations.

Responsibilities

• Full ownership and continuous refinement of the RA AI roadmap—driving prioritization, execution, and alignment around AI initiatives.
• Identify, scope, and deliver high-impact AI and automation initiatives within Regulatory Affairs with measurable benefit.
• Act as the primary subject matter expert and visionary for AI across Regulatory Affairs.
• Serve as a stakeholder in enterprise forums on AI policy, strategy, and system integration.
• Partner with RA Communications & Change Management to accelerate adoption and minimize disruption.
• Partner with RA Training to design and deploy AI upskilling programs.
• Enable cross-functional collaboration with BTS, Innovation, and enterprise AI teams to champion AI integration.
• Monitor external AI trends and translate into actionable RA insights.
• Develop communications, advocacy, and resource materials to drive understanding of AI-enabled transformation.
• Track, measure, and report progress of AI initiatives to senior leadership.
