Job summary

The Maryland Aviation Administration (MAA) within the Maryland Department of Transportation invites applications for the Director of Regional Aviation Assistance, based at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall (BWI) Airport in Anne Arundel County, MD. The role regulates and develops Maryland's 130+ airports, manages grants (AIP/MAPA), budgets, inspections and aviation programs.

Ten years of progressive aviation leadership is preferred, with strong experience in FAA coordination,

Qualifications

Experience administering FAA Airport Improvement Program (AIP) grants or comparable federal/state infrastructure grants.
Experience working with FAA, airport sponsors, local governments, and other aviation stakeholders.
Knowledge of federal and state aviation regulations, airport licensing, safety standards, and development requirements.
Experience managing capital improvement and airport construction projects.
Experience preparing and monitoring operating and capital budgets.
Experience with government procurement, contracts, financial reporting, and grant reimbursement processes.
Experience developing or managing aviation education, outreach, conferences, or open houses.

Responsibilities

Oversee regulation, development, and improvement of Maryland's 130+ general aviation and air carrier airports.
Plan, administer, and manage various aviation programs and projects, including financial aid and grant administration.
Supervise airport inspections, safety data inspections, and statewide aeronautical programs within Regional Aviation.
Coordinate with FAA and airport sponsors during planning and construction stages; ensure adherence to standards.
Maintain records and provide expenditure reports; oversee grant reimbursements and procurements to stay within budgets.
