Job summary

Samaritan Medical Center seeks a Director of Quality Improvement and Patient Safety to lead the hospital's quality and safety programs. The role partners with the VPMA/CMO to drive clinical excellence, patient experience, and a culture of safety through high reliability and evidence-based practices.

The position directs strategic quality improvements, oversees RCA2 and FMEA activities, and ensures readiness for Joint Commission, NYS DOH, and CMS reviews.

Qualifications

• RN licensure active in NY required.
• BSN required; advanced degree preferred.
• CPHQ or CPPS credential preferred; willing to pursue within 24–36 months of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Lead organization-wide clinical quality and patient safety initiatives designed to eliminate preventable patient harm and optimize clinical outcomes.
• Define annual quality metrics and targets aligned with organizational goals.
• Deploy evidence-based improvement methods (PDSA, Lean, Six Sigma, IHI) across service lines.
• Oversee departmental budgeting and staff development; ensure regulatory readiness.
