Job summary

ICF International is seeking a Director, Risk Management and Insurance to lead and grow our Risk and Insurance practice. This 100% remote role in the U.S.

involves guiding a team of professionals serving federal, state, and local government clients and driving business development to expand the practice. You will leverage deep public sector risk management experience—covering property insurance, workers' compensation, flood insurance, and floodplain management—to help clients protect public

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in risk management, business, public administration, industrial management, finance, or related field.
• 10+ years progressive experience in risk management, insurance, or related field with 5+ years in public sector.
• 3+ years managing or advising on public entity property insurance and workers' compensation programs.
• 3+ years experience with NFIP and floodplain management requirements.
• Experience with brokers, carriers, claims adjusters, and TPAs across lifecycle.
• 3+ years leading teams, managing staff, or running programs including budget oversight.
• Willing to travel across the United States for work.
• Valid U.S. driver's license and MVR check.

Responsibilities

• Lead business development for risk management and insurance work at federal, state, and local levels.
• Build and deepen relationships with public sector risk managers and related entities to create a strong pipeline.
• Oversee the Risk and Insurance team and mentor staff.
• Provide senior oversight of project delivery including quality, schedule, and budget.
• Advise clients on designing and running public entity insurance programs including NFIP.
• Guide clients on flood risk reduction and NFIP compliance.
• Support clients through claims with brokers, TPAs, and adjusters.
• Develop data and analytics tools to improve risk management.
