Job description

Director, Project Management- Global Payment Network
Director Project Management (PM120)

Capital One, a Fortune 500 company and one of the nation’s top 10 banks, offers a broad spectrum of financial products and services to consumers, small businesses and commercial clients. Our mission is to create one of the nation’s great banks, and we have the necessary ingredients: a strong balance sheet, resilient businesses, a massive customer franchise, strong analytical capabilities, and great people. We nurture a work environment where people with a variety of thoughts, ideas and backgrounds, guided by our shared Values, come together to make Capital One a great company – and a great place to work.

As the Director of Transaction Processing Network Documentation, you will lead the critical pillar responsible for managing and transforming our technical specifications into a dynamic, queryable, and AI-enabled ecosystem. You will lead the strategy to bridge the gap between technical specifications and actionable intelligence. You are not just writing documents; you are designing the future of how participants will understand and implement technical changes in the Transaction Processing platforms. This role ensures that as we innovate, we remain well managed through automated, resilient, and intelligent systems.

Responsibilities include:
  • Vision & AI Transformation: Define the multi-year roadmap for modernizing the Transaction Processing Network Specifications ecosystem. Transition our team from traditional technical writing to managing "documentation as code," leveraging Generative AI to automate content generation, validation, and accessibility.
  • AI-Fluent Architecture: Partner with the GPN AI Program to integrate LLMs and agentic workflows into the documentation lifecycle. Design systems where AI tools can ingest our technical specifications to provide real-time, consultative support to internal and external partners.
  • Documentation Modernization: Oversee the migration of legacy manuals to structured, AI-ready data formats. Implement validation mechanisms to ensure accuracy across all technical specifications.
  • Network Policy Partnership: Partner closely with the Network Policy team to ensure seamless alignment between evolving business regulations and our technical documentation. Act as a stakeholder in translating modernized rules into queryable, AI-ready technical standards, you will ensure a single source of truth for network compliance to technical specifications.
  • Strategic Leadership: Drive organizational alignment, ensuring our documentation strategy supports the broader Network Product & Platforms (NPP) objectives and the long-term goals of the Transaction Processing organization.
  • Consultative AI Integration: Partner with the Network Policy team to test, develop and deploy AI-driven interfaces that allow developers and stakeholders to "chat with our docs," reducing the friction of finding technical answers and speeding up time-to-market for new initiatives.
  • Team Leadership: Build and mentor a high-performing team of associates. Foster a culture of technical excellence, process optimization, and AI literacy. Enable team members to act as strategic consultants for the broader organization.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Military experience
  • At least 5 Years of Project Management experience
  • At least 3 Years of People Management experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of experience in Process Management, Technical Documentation, or Product Operations within Financial Services or FinTech.
  • 5+ years of People Management experience, with a proven track record of leading teams through periods of significant change or digital transformation.
  • Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of modern documentation frameworks and experience with AI/LLM integration in an enterprise environment.
  • Strategic Capability: Exceptional influencing skills, with the ability to articulate technical strategy to senior leadership and align cross-functional teams around a common vision.
  • Certifications: PMP, Lean, Agile, or Six Sigma certifications preferred.
